twitterCan I use your photos(s) on my website/account as an icon?
No.
I'd prefer my self portraits not end up as someone else's avatar.
Though I don't mind being featured, told about it, and linked backed to.

WHY NOT?
Since my photos are copyrighted and watermarked, under the law you aren't allowed to manipulate, sell, publish, etc..the work. I don't give permission to those who want to use my self portraits as avatars, but I WILL give permission to draw+paint me any of my work- as long as I'm given a little credit, and a view of the finished piece you've created!
Want to publish my images in your Magazine or as your CD or book cover?
I love working with artists and authors/publishers! Please contact me: clarabellafaire@yahoo.com with the image you'd like, I'll even do open idea commissions for clients. Just remember, CREDIT Clarabellafaire Photography & to ask mefor the proper permission & high resolution files. You may not publish anything without my foreknowledge.
Why do you watermark your images?
10 years ago when I started posting images online, I didn't have much of a following or audience of any kind. I was naive to the dark dramas of the internets, I even wrote private detailed journals of daily events..later to be found on another diary of a stranger who had involved herself in my daily life..claiming we were friends, had a sleepover at my house, then together went to a psychologist appointment. I'm sorry but, wtf?! o.O As if that wasn't weird enough..two years later, I find a website with my face and photos plastered all over it..the girl stating it was her in the images, photographed by a friend. Since then, I've been protecting my images with my name and website. I may not be able to keep thieves away, but I can at least take one step towards legal action with the copyright on the image. I find them to be priceless.
What camera should I buy?
I believe it's up to you to choose the camera that suits your personal needs and preferences best!(: We all have our own styles and with the camera market having so many options to choose from, it's easy to find the right one! Think about what you photograph the most, and what your camera will need for that. I myself, need a camera that is sturdy, and can handle shooting from a moving vehicle. Most importantly, interchangeable lenses..from macro to paparazzi distances. I use www.dpreview.com to research and compare before I make a commitment to buy..& I've been happy with every camera I've ever purchased! The website is phenomenal, suggesting sites to buy from and even examples of images taken with each camera-from the site and users like you and me!
Why don't you respond to me/my messages?
I maintain a few different art sites as well as site accounts, add an illness that often has me sleeping or too ill to check the computer and medicines that cause memory loss..you have my life. Responses may not be immediate, but I try. Please, be kind- I'm not ignoring you..I'm trying to heal from an illness and get back to comments and emails as much as I possibly can. the best way of contacting me is via my phone. twitter...@clarabellafaire or email clarabellafaire@yahoo.com. Want my phone number to talk about future work? that's fine too.
When did you become a photographer?
There was really no exact moment..it was a bit of a process. As a child, I constantly had cameras around me..in my face with the words resounding in my ears.."smile!" I've always known I wasn't the college type...I wanted to be constantly creative, like my mother who painted. I'd take more time appreciating images than others my young age..this one photo especially, hanging in my neighbor's house. It was a black and white nude, a mother and her child lit by lighting that created a shape that cascaded over them in such a way that was indescribably mesmerizing! It had more power than anything else I've ever seen and from that moment on if I was able to handle a camera, I'd get my hands briskly on it. My family realized my talent before I did..and bought me my very first digital camera at 15. At 17, I began working with clients for money. at 19, I worked in a portrait studio chain, photographing children and families, businessmen and prom dates. At 20, I freelanced in Brooklyn&NYC. At 22 I worked at a High-end boutique photographing designer clothing&accessories. Now I'm waiting to see what I live has in store for me next. (:
What did you do/who were you before you became Clarabellafaire?
I played piano. For six years it was a part of my life..but things happened and I ended up leaving it behind. Writing and makeup became my major creative outlets- causing me experiment in ways that embarrass me when I think back to them. I was a terrible dresser & actually had eyebrows!
What inspires you?
Life! Waking up every morning, and going to bed each night. My beautiful city & the gorgeous changing seasons all around me..nature is perfection, which I find more beautiful each day. Health, or lack there of. Family and friends, emotions, dreams and aspirations, fellow artists, different cultures, musical lyrics, books, psychology, fashions+art from the past, space, science, world history. Nearly everything is an inspiration to me!
What kind of photo sets are you prepared to do?
As an open minded photographer, with an endless imagination I'm interested in every and any type of job genre! Originally, portraiture I shoot a range of creative / journalistic style imagery. From your posed family portraits, to your wild child soul breaking lose and dancing freely for my lens..I'm able to capture it all! Weddings, High School Senior portraits, any event, any product you've created, Bands live & studio..Give me an idea, and I'll create a story with you! (:
What experience do you have with photography?
I have indentations on my eyes and nose from the camera. Statistics: 1 year Classic Portrait Studio experience, 1 year High Fashion Studio experience, 10 years freelance with 80+ models since '03, and 13 years modeling experience! I can pose your child, make them smile, and get a great shot in about 5 seconds! (thanks to one of my old jobs ^.^)
Do I need experience in modeling to work with you?
Not one single bit! I enjoy working with those that have no experience in front of the camera. I always like everyone to have a good time during my shoots, and do whatever I can to make you feel as comfortable and photogenic as possible.
Do you model?
Yes, I do! I've been modeling since a toddler and being in front of the camera is as natural as being behind it! Cash mostly; but I will accept dual beneficial shoots with other artists. (: I absolutely adore freely collaborating with others and feeding off different personalities! Currently, I've only worked with a few photographers, and I'm itching to work with more! I've been lucky enough to model for the epic WinterWolf Studios (`girltripped@deviantART) & the crazy but talented ~ChrisAddams, whom actually said he got into photography because of me!
That's amazing!
So modeling for him was surreal and an experience I hope happens many times!
If you're interested in working with me send me a note or email with details on what type of shoot you want to do, and the locations involved; I have numerous outfits, shoes, wigs, and props that may be of use that I'm always willing to bring along!
Are you available for makeup appointments without shoots?
Yes I am! Makeup is my second love, and I adore working on different faces with eclectic colors and fun materials. I have everything to create your dream look; girl next door, business professional, prom date, wedding beauty, pin-up girl, party girl, farmer girl, rainbow princess, Gothic queen, victorian stunner, punk rock hero, AND MORE! Email/call me with some of your ideas and wishes; as well as the date/time you'd like for your appointment.
What equipment do you use?:
I'm a simple girl..my newest work has been shot with just a Canon EOS 40DSLR, a Canon 18-55mm lens or Sigma 70-300mm lens.
Have you ever taken any classes?
Other than learning how to develop film, I'm completely self taught! I fell in love with the idea of creating and sharing my own personal ideas with the world..& found an outlet through cameras. I'm very hands on, preferring to learn and do everything by myself..and, the second I picked up a camera, I was hooked. With just my own knowledge, I feel allowed to shoot things I love.. not just the way they are, but they way I see them; I adore that feeling, and fear if I ever went to a school, I'd lose it.
Love your makeup, how do you do it?
Much appreciated. (: Makeup was the first artistic medium I really expressed myself with.. as a little girl for birthday and christmas gifts I'd be given those cheesy makeup sets for kids that you can find at any drugstore or grocery store toy isle. Sixth grade was when I started to seriously wear and experiment with makeup; and the love grew as I did..I'd go to school every day wearing rainbow eyeshadow one day..or smokey eye with glitter all over the next.
Photography, fashion&makeup tips,tricks/tutorials will be available here as life moves along. Ask me for tips here. (:
Where do you shoot your photos?
Mostly inside my home &my "home-studio", (my bedroom) Cities/towns visited, Beautiful outdoors; anywhere, walking or traveling in moving vehicles.
Who does your hair? What color is it? Naturally..?
Currently, I cut&dye my own hair..sometimes friends help (: It's white-blonde and naturally a sandy blonde. They stopped making the dye I used, so I'm in the middle of searching for another. It's now white-blonde with pink. I'm thinking of teal/dark blue next..! (: What a beauuutiful combination.
You never look the same.. Why! What do you look like in person?
Dressing up is one of my favorite things, and I make sure to experiment as much as possible to create new and original looks. Wigs and makeup have been a long time love, and when mixed with a killer wardrobe& yards of fabric tulle..you've got a recipe for my chameleon modeling. & to be quite honest, I look the same in my pictures as I do in real life. I believe a lady should always be dressed, even if it's rather eccentrically..and, the makeup/hair I rock in photos I'm not afraid to wear walking around town. I'm always changing, and love playing different roles. It's too fun, and too etched into my life to think otherwise.
What is this illness you have?
Currently working on that. Though 3 years, 50something doctors; FAR too many ER and hospital admissions later.. I'm being treated for a mix of Fibromyalgia, Endometriosis, and Epilepsy. It's been a long journey.. many misdiagnoses and fights with nurses, tests that showed nothing, and tests that showed something, but no one ever did anything about. I've even been diagnosed with intussusception..and saw the photos of my inside-out insides. At this point, I'm just living minute by minute, and enjoying every second I'm alive. not in the ER. standing up straight. I've learned more about myself during this bout of sickness than in the 19 years or so before; so I call this my blessing in a disguise, that's sort of over staying it's welcome.
Where do you buy all of your clothes?
I like the best quality, but I also like saving ze moneys; to me, comfort and style are equally important. I shop at places that have affordable and unique items such as Forever 21, Pink Ice, Rue 21, Wet Seal, ModCloth, Shanalogic, Fred Flare.
What else do you enjoy doing?
Playing dress up, dying hair, designing clothes and accessories, scrap-booking, writing, baking, learning, piano, adventuring in the woods, in the city, anywhere I can go!, dreams;&watching them come true<3, the Golden Girls, staring at the stars, soaking in bubble baths, picnics at the lake
Why do you like photography so much?
It heals any hurt, and calms my nerves. It changed my life and myself, for the better, as time went on. Shooting literally makes me feel alive inside; as I'm noticeably most confident camera in hand; and I want to share that confidence with others! I love how a picture can be viewed a hundred times, in totally new ways; and I love how images can make you think, make you feel, make you do. The greatest and most humbling of all; is inspiring art pieces and people to pick up cameras. Such amazing gratification for a middle-class girl from a small city. I'm so appreciative and so thankful for the beautiful people, jobs, and places photography has brought into my life.<3
Where do you see yourself in the future?
For now, I'm just trying to see myself in the present. (:
